The glitter and glamor of the modeling world attract many people, each wanting to make their big break there. Some flourish while others serve their time and wither away. Naomi Ekindi, a French model, was never among those who saw themselves as a model; she just wanted to make a difference in the world. However, life had its way of bringing Naomi where she is today – a young, successful, and rising supermodel working with big names, especially Dior, in the fashion industry.
Naomi’s initial north star for her modeling career was her high school love that propelled her to attain magnificent triumph in the fashion world. But somewhere down the line, it has become so much more fruitful. Today, the 19-year-old wants to utilize her growing platform to make a moving mark in the world, positively affecting as many lives as possible and motivating them to take an uncharted path. Her goal is to become a voice for minorities, including people of color and queer community, as well as be a representative figure in the modeling industry, which is often limited to white and heterocentric standards.
Besides being an influential model, Naomi strives to exercise her creativity in other areas as well and has a penchant for writing, acting, and directing. Moreover, she is keen on exploring her newfound talent as a musician. In short, Noami is an artist through and through, with various interests that help her express her inner world creatively.
Art is heavily influential and has the power to inspire the audience. For eons, it has successfully encouraged and brought people together despite their differences. And that’s precisely what Naomi wants to do: utilize her creative platforms to impact people through her art.
“If given the chance, I’d love to give them (children of color, queer youth, and lost souls of the generation) someone to look up to. Through writing, directing, acting, and modeling. That’s my dream,” shares Naomi.
From modeling to acting to music, Naomi has what it takes to reach the unreachable and stand out in the saturated crowd. Meaning no disrespect to other models and artists, Naomi’s aim to represent the colored and LGBTQ+ communities while inspiring the youth sets her apart from others in the industry.
